Ben works on litigation and policy projects on the Redistricting and Voting Rights teams to create a fairer, more just democracy.

At CLC, Ben has litigated voting rights and redistricting cases in state and federal court, including a successful case under Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act in his home state of Washington. He has also contributed to amicus briefs in state supreme courts, and the U.S. Supreme Court on issues including state VRAs, tech and political spending disclosure laws, and the harms of partisan gerrymandering.

Prior to joining CLC, Ben worked in civic engagement and democracy promotion. Before law school, he worked with the Aspen Institute Citizenship & American Identity Program, and at the nonprofit Citizen University, leading programs on voting and youth leadership. He also received three NW Emmy nominations for his work writing and producing for a TV show about active citizenship, and was the co-founder and executive director of a theatre company focused on integrating art and contemporary political issues. During law school, Ben served as Senior Executive Editor for the Georgetown Journal of Legal Ethics, and worked for Governing for Impact, the Senate Judiciary Committee, and as a Voter Protection Fellow during the 2020 election.

Ben graduated cum laude from Georgetown University Law Center, and magna cum laude from the University of Washington with a degree in Political Science and Drama. He joined CLC in 2022. He is licensed to practice law in the District of Columbia, and is a member of the bar of the District Court for the District of North Dakota.
