
Mel Neal
As a member of CLC’s Voting Rights team, Mel works on litigation and policy projects that protect and expand access to voting.

Mel began her legal career at CLC as a Legal Fellow, focusing on voting access and opportunities for Native American communities. At CLC, she has litigated voting rights cases in state and federal court to ensure that voting is accessible for all citizens.
During law school, Mel was a law clerk at Native American Rights Fund and the U.S. Department of Justice. She also served as Notes Editor of the Georgetown Journal of Law & Modern Critical Race Perspectives and worked as a student attorney in the Racial Equity in Education Law and Policy Clinic.
Mel graduated cum laude from Georgetown University Law Center and with highest honors from the University of Michigan. She is admitted to practice law in the District of Columbia, as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit and the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. She joined CLC in 2023.
