CLC Refers FEC Complaint Against Leadership Action Fund to Justice Department

On January 23, 2023, Campaign Legal Center (CLC) sent the Public Integrity Section of the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) a complaint that CLC previously filed with the Federal Election Commission (FEC), alleging that unknown persons used a straw donor, a shell company called Leadership Action Fund, to unlawfully funnel over $850,000 to Fighters for a Strong America PAC, a super PAC that exclusively supported T.W. Shannon during the 2022 primary runoff election for the U.S. Senate in Oklahoma. CLC’s referral letter urges the DOJ to commence a criminal investigation and possible enforcement action for these apparent violations of federal campaign finance laws.
