Karen Greenwood was the Chief Operating Officer at the American Medical Informatics Association. Karen’s work focused on designing and driving positive outcomes to achieve organizational excellence, financial success, and member satisfaction by combining strategy, tactics, and action. She led governance and operational functions that included finance, human resources, and information technology and worked with the leadership team to provide data, share insights, and present options to advance the work and align resources to strategic priorities. Prior to her COO role, she was the Director of Member Services and worked closely with the organization’s 5,000 members.

Karen received a BS degree from Dickinson College and continues her professional development in non-profit management by participating in numerous professional organizations including ASAE and SHRM.  Prior to her positions at AMIA, Karen served in senior leadership roles with the American Federation of Medical Research, American Society of Clinical Investigation, and the Association of American Physicians.  Her current volunteer activities include A Wider Circle, Greater Washington Community Foundation, Jubilee Association of Maryland, and the Washington International School. Karen has a passion for modern art, design, and photography. She is a New England native, is married and has a daughter.
