Alexandra Copper
Alex serves as Senior Legal Counsel on CLC's Strategic Litigation team.
Alex's work spans Campaign Legal Center's issue areas, including rule of law, First Amendment, campaign finance, voting rights and redistricting cases at both the trial and appellate levels. She also works to advance various pro-democracy solutions, including ranked-choice voting and other electoral system reforms designed to ensure that our elections are more participatory, representative, and reflective of the will of voters.
Alex is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law (J.D. 2020), Georgetown University (M.A. 2014) and Yale University (B.A. 2009). During law school, she interned with Campaign Legal Center, the ACLU Voting Rights Project and RepresentUs; served as the Managing Editor of the California Law Review; and co-led the Post-Conviction Advocacy Project and Berkeley Law Alternative Service Trips. After law school, Alex joined CLC as a fellow before clerking for the Honorable Valerie E. Caproni on the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.
Alex is based and licensed to practice in California. Any work conducted in the District of Columbia is limited to federal courts. Alex is a member of the California bar, as well as the bars of the U.S. Supreme Court; the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth, Eleventh, and D.C. Circuits; and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. She joined CLC in 2022.
