“While the mystery of the funding of Nunes’s family’s lawsuit continues, a larger one remains. How is Congressman Nunes funding his own lawsuits? Because in early 2020, the Campaign Legal Center filed a complaint to the Office of Congressional Ethics asking for an investigation into how Nunes’s lawsuits are being funded,” said John Avlon. “Congressional rules are clear that lawmakers cannot receive free legal services unless the source and the amount are disclosed. All of the known facts show that Rep. Nunes is accepting extensive free legal services and he has not publicly provided any evidence to dispute this,” said Kedric Payne, senior director of ethics at CLC.
