Candidates’ personal financial disclosures are key pieces of information for voters, particularly for candidates who self-fund their campaigns, said Kedric Payne, general counsel and senior director of ethics at the Campaign Legal Center. “Voters cannot make an informed decision on a candidate if they’re not aware of their potential financial conflicts of interest,” Payne said.
