United States v. Oregon — Amici Curiae Brief of CLC, Brennan Center and DDF

On April 24, 2026, Campaign Legal Center, the Brennan Center and Democracy Defenders Fund filed an amicus brief on behalf of the League of United Latin American Citizens and the League of Women Voters of Oregon in support of the appellees in United States v. Oregon, in which the United States is appealing the dismissal of its lawsuit seeking to compel production of Oregon's unredacted voter registration list. The brief argues that the district court’s decision should be affirmed because the United States failed to provide a proper purpose or basis for its request, and that the United States' demand is pretextual and chilling to voter participation.
