On August 6, 2026, the United States District Court for the District of Columbia issued its Memorandum Opinion in United States v. Monica Evans et al., the United States Department of Justice’s lawsuit seeking to compel Washington, D.C., to produce its unredacted voter registration list. The Court determined that Title III of the Civil Rights Act of 1960 did not authorize the federal government to compel D.C. to produce its voter registration list and, as a result, denied DOJ’s motion to compel and dismissed the complaint.
