United States v. Copeland Hanzas — Order Granting Motions to Dismiss
On September 17, 2026, the United States District Court for the District of Vermont issued its Memorandum Opinion in United States v. Copeland Hanzas, the United States Department of Justice’s lawsuit seeking to compel Vermont to produce its unredacted voter registration list. The Court determined that Title III of the Civil Rights Act of 1960 did not authorize the federal government to compel Vermont to produce its voter registration list and, as a result, dismissed the complaint.
