SCOTUS Order Granting Stay of States' Injunction

On August 24, 2026, the U.S. Supreme Court granted a stay of a lower court injunction that had blocked the president's unlawful executive order aiming to impose new restrictions on mail voting from taking effect. The Supreme Court ruled that the lower court had impermissibly granted the injunction before the issues in the case were ripe, because DHS and USPS had not yet issued final regulations to implement the executive order when the injunction was granted. The Supreme Court did not decide whether President Trump's executive order is constitutional or lawful.
