Redistricting 101 and the Fight for Fair Representation After Callais
Campaign Legal Center (CLC) has published an explainer of redistricting and Louisiana v. Callais, a U.S. Supreme Court case decided on April 29, 2026, that impacts fair representation for voters of color. The decision struck down Louisiana’s congressional map containing two majority-Black districts and gutted Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act. But voters still have power, from the local level to the halls of Congress, to enact change and create an inclusive and reflective democracy.
