Preliminary Injunction Order in Florida State Conference of the NAACP v. Byrd

On July 3, the Court temporarily stopped the state of Florida from enforcing the parts of SB 7050 preventing non-U.S. citizens from helping people register to vote and making it a felony for anyone to retain a person’s name, phone number and other personal information after helping them register to vote. The Court held that both provisions likely violate the U.S. Constitution and would irreparably harm organizations whose goal is to help Floridians register to vote.
