Minnesota Voters Alliance v. Ellison — Friend-of-the-court brief

On September 25, 2026, CLC and Protect Democracy United (PD) filed a friend-of-the-court (amicus) brief in Minnesota Voters Alliance v. Ellison in support of Minnesota’s petition for rehearing, defending Minnesota’s right to prohibit disinformation intended to interfere with voters in the run-up to an election. CLC and PD’s brief explains that knowingly made false speech intended to disenfranchise voters is not protected speech under the First Amendment.
