LUCHA v. Fontes — Supreme Court Stay Application

In CLC’s challenge to Arizona’s anti-voter laws that especially burden Latino and Native voters and students, intervenor defendants — two Arizona legislators and a political party — sought to put in place parts of those anti-voter laws just weeks before the 2024 election. The intervenor defendants asked SCOTUS to put in place for the first time Arizona laws that arbitrarily deny voter registration to some applicants who use the state rather than the federal registration form and to bar certain voters from voting by mail.
