How Super PACs Are Hiding Tens of Millions of Dollars in Candidate Spending

Super PACs like Elon Musk's America PAC are coordinating directly with candidates on canvassing — while hiding which candidates they're helping and how much they're spending. A legally-unsound 2024 FEC advisory opinion allowed super PACs to coordinate their canvassing expenditures with candidates. But a little-noticed consequence of that advisory opinion is that when super PACs spend on coordinated canvassing, they don't disclose which candidates are supported or much is spent on the race.
