Garcia v. Hobbs Amicus Brief at 9th Circuit on Behalf of Soto Palmer Plaintiffs

On October 23, 2024, Campaign Legal Center (CLC), the UCLA Voting Rights Project, and the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF) filed an amicus brief on behalf of the Soto Palmer plaintiffs in a related case challenging Legislative District 15. The district court dismissed this case based on the decision in Soto Palmer v. Hobbs and the Garcia plaintiff has appealed to the 9th Circuit as part of an effort to overturn the Soto Palmer win. This amicus brief explains to the 9th Circuit why the district court’s dismissal was correct, and why Garcia’s arguments against the Soto Palmer win should be rejected.
