Congressional Oversight Letter on Former Lobbyists Serving in the Trump Administration

On February 18, 2026, four members of the United States Congress sent a letter to the inspectors general of 16 different federal agencies, urging them to examine potential ethical issues surrounding former lobbyists now serving in the Trump administration. This congressional oversight letter cites and reflects Campaign Legal Center’s research on the growing number of former lobbyists who have been appointed to senior roles in the Trump administration, and the pathways this revolving door can create for wealthy special interests to exert undue influence over our government. The letter requests that inspectors general across the executive branch investigate important questions about these former lobbyists' potential conflicts of interest and whether their conduct aligns with their ethical requirements.
