Complaint in CLC v. FEC (Texas Majority PAC AO)
On May 6, Campaign Legal Center filed a complaint for declaratory and injunctive relief against the Federal Election Commission to challenge FEC Advisory Opinion (AO) 2024-01 (Texas Majority PAC) as contrary to law and arbitrary and capricious under the Administrative Procedure Act. CLC's lawsuit contends that the Texas Majority PAC AO, which the agency issued in 2024, illegally permits unfettered coordination between candidates and outside groups on paid canvassing efforts, in defiance of an express statutory directive to treat all expenditures coordinated with federal candidates as contributions subject to amount limits, source restrictions, and disclosure.
