Comment Opposing the Voter Registration Provisions of OMB’s Proposed Rule on Federal Financial Assistance

On July 13, 2026, Campaign Legal Center — in collaboration with the Andrew Goodman Foundation, Bard College, Nonprofit VOTE, the Student Learn Students Vote coalition, and Wesleyan University — filed a comment strongly opposing OMB’s proposed regulation that would restrict voter registration activities by nonprofit organizations and institutions of higher education. The comment explains that OMB’s unlawful proposal will chill protected speech and fundamentally weaken legally required opportunities for voter registration and urges OMB not to finalize the proposed rule.
