CLC Urges Support for Discharge Petition to Advance the Restore Trust in Congress Act
On December 16, 2025, Campaign Legal Center (CLC) sent a letter to the full House of Representatives, urging every member of Congress to sign a discharge petition that would advance the Restore Trust in Congress Act, bipartisan legislation that would ban congressional stock trading. This important bill is a consensus proposal produced by months of negotiations between a bipartisan group of House members. If enacted, it would strengthen existing rules on congressional stock trading to help address the public's longstanding concerns about the ethical accountability of their elected officials. CLC’s letter details the need to ban members of Congress from trading stock while in office, and how the absence of these stronger rules has led to repeated examples of ethical violations and questionable financial activity by sitting lawmakers.
