CLC Urges House Administration Committee to Vote No on Stop Insider Trading Act
On January 13, 2026, Campaign Legal Center (CLC) sent a letter to every member of the U.S. House of Representatives’ Committee on House Administration, urging them to reject the Stop Insider Trading Act (H.R. 7008). Although this bill purports to ban congressional stock trading, it does not actually achieve this goal. Moreover, it does not address the fundamental problem of congressional stock ownership: the inherent conflicts of interest that prevent Americans from trusting their elected officials are acting for the public good instead of personal financial gain. CLC’s letter explains these deficiencies and urges the Committee to instead focus its efforts on real, bipartisan solutions such as the Restore Trust in Congress Act (H.R. 5106).
