CLC Statement in Support of Virginia SB 368 (Local Public Campaign Financing)

On February 9, 2026, Campaign Legal Center submitted written testimony to the Virginia Senate Committee on Privileges and Elections in support of SB 368, which would permit cities and counties to establish voluntary local public campaign financing programs. Our comments highlight the benefits of public financing, demonstrate courts’ longstanding approval of these programs as a tool for strengthening our democracy, and make recommendations to further strengthen the bill.
