CLC Files Supplemental FEC Complaint Against Mayor Eric Adams

Date

On February 18, 2025, Campaign Legal Center (CLC) filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) alleging that New York City Mayor Eric Adams, and his 2021 and 2025 mayoral campaign committees, violated federal campaign finance law by soliciting and accepting campaign donations from foreign nationals. On April 28, 2025, CLC filed a supplemental complaint, updating the FEC on new factual developments related to the allegations — namely that a federal court had dismissed the criminal indictment against Adams that was based on the same conduct. The dismissal was at the request of the Department of Justice, and the court stated that the dismissal did not reflect the weight of the evidence against Adams. CLC’s supplemental complaint stresses that the FEC is now the only law enforcement body that can hold Adams accountable for his violations of federal campaign finance law.
