CLC Files Comment on FEC Conduit Reporting Rulemaking Petition
On December 22, 2022, Campaign Legal Center (CLC) submitted a comment to the Federal Election Commission (FEC) urging it to keep in place rules that require political action committees (PACs) operating as conduits, such as ActBlue and WinRed, to report information about all contributions they pass on to a designated recipient. The comment pointed out that the FEC does not have the power under the Federal Election Campaign Act (FECA) to set a monetary threshold below which disclosure is not required and that doing so would be damaging to transparency.
