CLC Alleges Straw Donor Secretly Funded Pop-up Super PAC Targeting Kentucky

Date

On June 9, 2026, Campaign Legal Center (CLC) filed a supplemental complaint with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) alleging that an unlawful straw donor scheme involving an opaque corporate entity, “Tamarack Aspen, Inc.” funneled $3.5 million to Kentucky 4th PAC, a “pop-up” super PAC. Kentucky 4th PAC spent nearly $6.7 million on political ads attacking a Republican primary candidate in Kentucky’s 4th Congressional District (where primary challenger Ed Gallrein defeated incumbent Rep. Thomas Massie) while failing to report the true sources of that spending. CLC’s supplemental complaint alleges that Tamarack Aspen, Inc. was not the true contributor, but was instead a mere corporate shell used to illegally transmit funds to Kentucky 4th PAC while concealing the true contributors’ identities, a scheme expressly prohibited by federal law.
