CLC Alleges Private Prison Company GEO Group Made Illegal, Misreported Contribution

On May 27, 2026, Campaign Legal Center (CLC) filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) alleging that American Liberty Foundation, a hybrid PAC that functions like a super PAC, failed to accurately report a $250,000 contribution from GEO Group, a private prison company that holds over $2 billion in federal contracts and is the largest contractor for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Moreover, the complaint alleges that GEO Group, American Liberty Foundation, and an affiliated 501(c)(4) dark money group, American Liberty Action Fund, violated federal campaign finance laws that prohibit making or knowingly soliciting a federal contractor contribution.
