CLC Alleges Andy Ogles Deliberately Filed False Reports to Conceal Fake Loan
On April 23, 2025, Campaign Legal Center (CLC) filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) alleging that Rep. Andy Ogles deliberately filed false reports disclosing a fabricated $320,000 loan, purportedly made from Ogles’ personal funds, in order to inflate the amount of his campaign’s cash on hand during a competitive primary race in 2022. Ogles appears to have actually loaned his campaign just $20,000, which may have come from a line of credit guaranteed by his in-laws, resulting in Ogles knowingly accepting an excessive contribution. CLC further alleges that Ogles’ campaign appears to have filed false disclosure reports regarding several of its disbursements, violating federal campaign finance laws that require candidates’ campaigns to provide complete and accurate information about who they pay money to, and for what purposes.
