Amicus Brief Opposing Stay

On September 7, 2026, Campaign Legal Center, the ACLU, and the ACLU of Missouri filed an amicus brief at the U.S. Supreme Court opposing the request for a stay submitted by Missouri's Secretary of State. The brief explains that it is the Secretary's requested relief, not the unanimous ruling by the Missouri Supreme Court, that would violate the federal Elections Clause, and that the Secretary's intentional strategy of delay cannot be rewarded by ordering the use of a congressional map the Missouri Supreme Court said, “is not the law and has never been the law."
