Amicus Brief: Onder v. Missouri
On September 15, 2026, Campaign Legal Center, ACLU, and ACLU of Missouri filed an amicus brief in the Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit urging the court to vacate the erroneous temporary restraining order (TRO) issued by the district court. The TRO improperly barred use of any congressional map other than the gerrymandered 2025 map, which the Missouri Supreme Court ruled was not and has never been the law. The amicus brief explains why the district court lacked authority to issue the TRO, why the TRO violated federal law, and why the TRO — and the Eighth Circuit's expedited review — cause voter confusion contrary to the Purcell principle.
