CLC Alleges Straw Donor Secretly Funded Pop-up Super PAC Targeting Colorado
On August 17, 2026, Campaign Legal Center (CLC) filed a supplemental complaint with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) alleging that an unlawful straw donor scheme involving an opaque corporate entity, “U.S. Accountability Project, Inc.” (USAP), funneled $470,000 to “Mile High Accountability Project”, a “pop-up” super PAC. Mile High Accountability Project spent $485,000 on political ads supporting a Democratic primary candidate in Colorado’s 1st congressional district, while failing to report the true sources behind that spending. CLC’s supplemental complaint alleges that USAP was merely a corporate shell used to illegally transmit $470,000 to MHAP while concealing the true contributors’ identities, a scheme expressly prohibited by federal law.
