Though she was born in Philadelphia (and very proud of her Philly identity), Marta's career has taken her to different locations and cultures. She served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in The Gambia in West Africa, worked alongside Grover and Cookie Monster at Sesame Workshop in New York City, and most recently she spearheaded the communications strategy of an international Quaker organization. She holds a B.A. in Film and Media Arts from Temple University, and her education as a digital storyteller is ongoing.

Marta's passion for voting and making democracy as accessible as possible is rooted in her upbringing. Her grandfather, a World War I veteran who received U.S. citizenship for fighting for the Allied cause, taught his children and grandchildren that democracy thrives when everyone participates, especially by voting in every election. For her, democratic participation is a family tradition, and that energy is a big reason why she's excited to help CLC expand its reach online through digital advocacy and relationship-building.
