Yakima County Commission candidates spar over voting rights act settlement, water utility

The settlement will establish new commission district boundaries with one dominated by Latinos, force a 2022 election of all three commission seats, and force another election of two of those seats in 2024. It was the American Civil Liberties Union that successfully sued the city over alleged violations to the Voting Rights Act. OneAmerica and nonprofit Campaign Legal Center sued in the county case.
