White House officials guest star in private virtual fundraisers for Trump and the GOP during pandemic

“The Hatch Act would prohibit the use of official titles or resources in connection with a fundraising event but if a cabinet official is just described as a ‘special guest’ or ‘the honorable’ it is okay,” Brendan Fischer, a director at the watchdog Campaign Legal Center said.
