A campaign-finance watchdog group on Tuesday filed a complaint asking the Arizona secretary of state to investigate a $500,000 donation it claims was unlawfully made to a committee benefiting Gov. Doug Ducey's re-election campaign.

The Washington, D.C.-based Campaign Legal Center contends the May 11 donation to the Ducey Victory Fund Committee was funneled through a shell company, Blue Magnolia Investments, and thus amounts to a "straw donor" scheme prohibited by state law.
