Video: FBI investigating alleged illegal contributions to Sen. Collins re-election campaign

"A mysterious LLC with no public footprint,” said Brendan Fischer, Director of Federal Reform at the nonpartisan Campaign Legal Center, in Washington. "Navatak itself was prohibited from making a contribution to 1820 PAC, so it laundered the money through an LLC." Fischer, an attorney, co-authored the complaint CLC filed about Kao last year with the Federal Election Commission. “What was being hidden was an illegal contribution from a contractor and a contribution that looks an awful lot like an expression of gratitude to Senator Collins for her advocacy on the company’s behalf,” he said.
