“I’ve seen how fair districts are vital to our democracy. That is why I am here to urge you to reject Senate Bill 619 and oppose reinstating prison-based gerrymandering in Maryland. I would like to highlight three main points today: first, Maryland’s decision to abolish prison-based gerrymandering in 2010 was a resounding success. It makes no sense for Maryland to repeal this,” said Jade Ford, legal fellow at Campaign Legal Center.
