The maps Wisconsin’s GOP legislative leaders released Wednesday would likely help Republicans increase their hold on the Assembly and give them a veto-proof majority in the Senate. Under the new maps, President Joe Biden would have won fewer Assembly districts than he captured in the 2020 election, according to the nonpartisan the Campaign Legal Center, and two suburban Milwaukee Senate districts would become significantly more Republican. Assembly Minority Leader Gordon Hintz (D-Oshkosh), called the proposed maps “gerrymandering 2.0.”
