After the election, it took the editors of the online design magazine Sight Unseen just 24 hours to conceive and introduce a project called Design for Progress. Their mission is to raise funds for groups that they believe will need more support under the new administration, and their first online fund-raiser brought in $20,000. Now, with the help of friends in the design community, Design for Progress will auction off nearly 40 works commissioned from top contemporary creators, including Lindsey Adelman, Kelly Behun and Apparatus. Proceeds will benefit four organizations: the ACLU, Run for Something, Sierra Club and Campaign Legal Center. And bidding begins today at noon at paddle8.com. — A.L.B.
