New Report Highlights Voting Challenges For Native Americans

A new report by the Campaign Legal Center scores how restrictive states’ access to early voting and vote-by-mail are. Montana checked off many of the criteria, but the center’s Caleb Jackson says the state still makes it hard for Native Americans to submit their ballots. “Montana is a state that allows everyone to vote by mail. It is a state that has a permanent mail voting list et cetera, but we know that in Montana, voting by mail is not really a viable option for many Native Americans because of unreliable mail service on reservations,” said Jackson.
