“The reason that foreign interests spend so much lobbying in the United States is because it works,” said Brendan Fischer, Director of Federal Reform for the Campaign Legal Center, another nonprofit focused on reducing money’s impact on politics. “The tens or hundreds of millions of dollars that foreign interests are spending on lobbying (affects) potentially billions of dollars in U.S. taxpayer funds. “We should expect that U.S. policy is being shaped in the interest of U.S. voters and U.S. citizens, not based on which foreign interest is spending the most on lobbying.”
