FEC to consider use of campaign funds to pay candidate salaries, health care costs

The Campaign Legal Center, Common Cause and Issue One support Islam’s petition. The groups argue that setting a standard minimum wage for all candidates would allow people from a more diverse range of economic backgrounds to run for elected office. In a memo sent to the FEC supporting Islam’s petition, shared with OpenSecrets on Wednesday, the Campaign Legal Center noted, “in the 2018 cycle, primary ballot access deadlines ranged from December 4, 2017, in Illinois to July 10, 2018, in Delaware.”
