Bloomberg Politics: Watchdogs Urge Stricter Disclosure on Funders of Dark Money Ads

Non-profit Campaign Legal Center, which advocates for transparency in politics, and two other groups called on Federal Communications Commission on Thursday to enforce disclosure of the funders behind political ads run by super-PACs and dark money groups, according to a press release from the organization.

CLC said that FCC enforcement is currently “weak” and that the Communications Act of 1934 gives the agency authority to enforce disclosure rules.

“With the 2016 elections looming, viewers need meaningful information to make up their own minds regarding the messages they are hearing from candidates and outside groups,” said Meredith McGehee of CLC.
