1 political party likely to benefit under draft maps from Michigan redistricting commission

PlanScore, a mapping technology project from the nonpartisan Campaign Legal Center, uses past election data to predict the election outcomes redistricting plans would produce. An evaluation of the two sets of state Senate districts drawn by the commission indicates that across multiple measures, the maps would favor Republican candidates. The commission celebrated completing its first set of draft Senate districts Wednesday afternoon, but acknowledged that the plans would likely change. The commission is expected to undertake its own analysis of partisan fairness before the end of the month.
