State of Michigan: Letter from CLC et al. Urging Gov. Rick Snyder to Veto SB 638

On December 14, 2015, the Campaign Legal Center joined with 10 other advocacy organizations to express opposition to SB 639 and urge Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder to veto the legislation which places additional burdens on Michigan residents seeking to vote in the state.  The letter outlined a variety of ways the proposed legislation would make it more difficult for residents to vote and also how the changes appear to violate a number of federal laws, leaving the state open to litigation similar to that faced by other states that have passed laws restricting voting rights in recent years.
