Soto Palmer v. Hobbs – District Court’s Decision

On August 10, 2023, the District Court issued its decision following a four-day trial in Soto Palmer v. Hobbs. The Court ruled that Washington State’s redistricting plan violates Section 2 of the voting strength of Latino voters in the Yakima Valley region. The Court ordered the State to adopt revised legislative district maps for the Yakima Valley region that eliminate the unlawful dilution of Latino voting power by February 7, 2024.
