Plaintiffs-Appellees’ Answering Brief

After the district court found that the legislative district in Washington’s Yakima Valley violated Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act, it ordered a new map in place. Intervenors in the case appealed both the liability and remedial orders, and those appeals were consolidated. On August 30, 2024, Plaintiffs filed their answering brief in the Ninth Circuit. The brief explains that the Intervenors lack standing to appeal, and that the district court correctly found that the enacted district violated Section 2, and that the new map properly remedies that violation.
