Petteway v. Galveston County, Texas — District Court Decision

On October 13, 2023, the Federal District Court issued its decision following a two week trial in Petteway v. Galveston County, Texas. The Court ruled that Galveston County's voting maps violate Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act and dilute voting strength of Black and Latino voters. The Court ordered the county to propose a remedial plan by October 20.
