Amici argue that the Supreme Court has held that such contribution limits are a constitutionally permissible means of advancing the government’s vital interests in preventing corruption, the appearance of corruption and circumvention of candidate contribution limits—so long as the limits are not so low as to prevent candidates and PACs from amassing the resources necessary for effective advocacy.
