Friend of the Court Brief in Support of Neither Party - Trump v. Anderson

Campaign Legal Center joined the Brennan Center for Justice, Protect Democracy, and the League of Women Voters, in submitting an amicus brief in the Section 3 case at the U.S. Supreme Court. While taking no position on the ultimate outcome of the case, the brief urged the Court to reject Donald Trump’s arguments that tried to resurrect the dangerous independent state legislature theory rejected by the Supreme Court last year in Moore v. Harper. The brief explained that The Colorado Supreme Court followed its proper role in interpreting Colorado election law, and that Trump’s arguments to the contrary would risk confusion and chaos in the future around the proper implementation and interpretation of state election laws.
